If I Had to Start My Blog from Scratch in 2025… Here’s Exactly What I’d Do

Starting a blog in 2025? It’s absolutely still worth it — but if I had to start over today, I wouldn’t do it the way I did the first time.

If I were beginning from scratch — no followers, no traffic, no website — here’s exactly what I’d do differently (and what I’d keep the same) to build a blog that makes real income through evergreen content and affiliate links.

1. I’d Choose a Simpler Niche (One I Could Write About for Years)

When you’re new, it’s tempting to try to write about everything. But the truth? Niching down saves you so much time and confusion.

If I started over, I’d pick one clear topic I enjoy — something people ask about often — and focus all my blog content there. Not forever. Just for now. Simplify first, then expand later.

2. I’d Create Evergreen Content from Day One

I used to spend time writing “fluffy” posts just to get something up — but now I know better.

If I started over, I’d focus only on evergreen blog posts — the kind people search for year-round. Tutorials, how-to’s, reviews, best-of lists, helpful guides. Not seasonal, not trendy — just useful.

Why? Because evergreen content pays off long-term. It’s searchable, pinnable, and keeps working for you behind the scenes.

💡 This is exactly the type of blog strategy I teach inside my course — how to create posts that earn, without chasing trends or needing tons of traffic.

3. I’d Add Affiliate Links Right Away

It took me way too long to realize that I could earn money recommending things I genuinely use and love.

If I were starting today, I’d join a few beginner-friendly affiliate programs and start adding links into my posts immediately — with helpful context and zero pressure. No pushy sales talk, just “Here’s what I use, and here’s where to get it.”

Done right, affiliate marketing blends seamlessly into your content — and gives you a way to start earning before you ever launch a product.

4. I’d Grow My Email List From the First Post

Even if only two people sign up, I’d still do it.

Why? Because email is personal. It's the one place you don’t have to fight an algorithm to connect. And it’s where you can nurture your audience, share stories, and eventually — when you’re ready — introduce your products.

When I started, I didn’t even have a sign-up form. Now? It’s the first thing I set up.

5. I’d Follow a Simple Plan Instead of Figuring It Out Alone

Blogging can be overwhelming. You don’t need 50 tabs open and a million free checklists. What you need is a step-by-step plan that walks you through what to do and what to skip.

That’s why I created my course — to give new bloggers a clear, simplified path to building a blog that makes money using evergreen content and affiliate links.

No fluff. No fancy tech. Just a repeatable strategy that works.
